Dutch Shepherds where originally bred for herding sheep and livestock on the farm!  Their gait is more of a float to watch across the ground. They are more commonly used today by Military and Police services for scent detection, search and rescue. The Dutch is not a recognized breed by the Canadian Kennel Club but it is how ever by the AKC. The Dutch Shepherd is a dog with high energy and big drives! meaning this dog should demonstrate outstanding desire to hunt and chase prey and work for a food reward. Desires such as these make the Dutch Shepherd outstanding to train. They are eager to make you happy and be an outstanding loyal companion. Female Dutch shepherds stay on the smaller end of around 60 pounds with the males easily reaching 70 plus pounds. They are classified as a medium sized dog with a whither height of 22- 24 inches. From personal experience a Dutch Shepherd will turn you into a dog trainer whether you like it or not. This dog has a built in desire to be continuously learning. If not provided a positive outlet this dog will decide the rules of your own home and you will have to start paying rent this first of each month. You DO NOT WANT THIS DOG AS YOUR HOA!

All through the Dutch Shepherd is well known for its protection ability and outstanding functionality in the military and police force. Our main focus for our breeding program, is to bring the breed back to more the the farm utility and herding aspect that the breeds original purpose was. That being said with our bloodlines we have the ability to produce both aspects of the breed. The versatility in this breed continues to blow my mind. Theres not much these amazing dogs cant do!
